Skegness

The August bank holiday tournament at The Village Church Farm is one of our favourite events.

The venue is accessible and welcoming  - to humans of all ages and well behaved dogs - with lots to explore. 

Often described as a hidden gem of the East Coast, Church Farm Village gives a glimpse of agricultural life. Experience life in a Victorian farmhouse, (built in 1760 making it the second oldest building in Skegness), explore the thatched 'mud and stud' farm labourer's cottage, marvel at Bob the traction engine, work out how everyday objects were made (and mended) in the various workshops, examine an amazing collection of world war 1 and 2 artefacts and memorabilia, get yourself photographed in the driving seat of a vintage tractor, have a picnic in the tranquil orchard or enjoy a nice cup of tea in The Village cafe.

PLUS - this bank holiday weekend - Try on some real fighting armour, have a go with some real tournament weapons, try making a candle or some flour by hand, explore inside some medieval tents - you can even try out a knights' bed! (Don't worry though, he won't be in it at the time)

As well as combat, weapons and armour, you'll be able to try out some medieval games & toys, cringe at the surgeons' tools,get as close as you dare to our instruments of torture, learn how people kept clean (fancy trying a medieval shower?), see what they ate and drank, hear their stories and examine everyday objects from cups & spoons, books, clothes, lanterns, chairs, spectacles and much more.
